8 Indonesian Wushu Athletes Will Appear At China's World University Games 2023

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Wushu Executive Board (PB WI) will send representatives of the Wushu national team to The FISU World University Games 2021 which will take place in Chengdu, China. In the agenda which will take place from July 28 to August 8, 2023, there will be eight representatives who will appear.

The eight representatives of the wushu national team who will appear in the event consist of four taolu athletes and four sanda athletes. So far, the wushu national team has also undergone Training Camp (TC) in China since 27 July to face the 2023 Asian Games.

The readiness of the wushu national team to face the agenda in China was also conveyed by the Indonesian Wushu National Team Manager, Novita. He said the athletes had also arrived in Chengdo on Friday, July 28, 2023.

"The Indonesian Wushu national team is ready to appear at the 2023 FISU World University Games. And, we would like to thank Mr. Ketum Airlangga Hartarto for his concern for the preparations for the Indonesian Wushu National Team," he said in an official release received on Friday, July 28.

"All preparations for the Indonesian Wushu national team, including the physical condition of athletes, have also been reported and their desire to give the best achievements for the name of the Indonesian nation and state," added Novita.

The involvement of the Indonesian Wushu national team at the 2023 FISU World University Games is considered important as a last trial event ahead of the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games.

"At the 2023 FISU World University Games, it is very important as a trial, especially from the list of athletes who also competed in the Hangzhou 2023 Asian Games. Especially athletes from Korea, Japan, Macao, and Hong Kong," said Novita.

"In the previous quarter, Wushu only got 1 bronze, our target is now to improve achievements. Please pray from the people of Indonesia," continued Novita about the target.
