Nottingham Forest has signed Swedish striker Anthony Elanga on a five-year contract from Manchester United, the two Premier League clubs said in an announcement on Tuesday (25/7).

Elanga was a United academy graduate before making 55 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils. Meanwhile, Elanga has 12 times for the Swedish national team.

The two clubs did not disclose the financial details of the transfer, but British media reported that Elanga joined Forest with an agreement worth 15 million pounds sterling (around Rp286 billion).

"It's great to be here. It's a proud moment, not only for me, but also for my family," Elanga said in a statement on Nottingham's official website.

"This is a perfect step in the next chapter of my career and can't wait to play in front of Forest supporters at The City Ground."

"I got offers from other places, but for me, Nottingham Forest feels like the perfect place," he continued.

Elanga has scored four goals for United since making her debut in the 2020-2021 season.

Manchester United itself has bid farewell and wished the 21-year-old the best.

"Anthony has been a role model and a good role model for other Academy members, and left with our best wishes for the future, after Forest won the competition for her signature," United's official statement read.

"We would like to thank you for your service at United."
