JAKARTA - Bhayangkara FC officially changed their name ahead of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 event. The Jakarta-based club is now Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC ahead of the 2023/2024 competition season.
Despite changing its name, the club logo will not make any significant changes.
The change of name to Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC is nothing but a form of appreciation from Bhayangkara and the aspirations of the Indonesian people.
"The word Precision is a representation of the spirit of the Police in advancing Indonesian football. The hope is that Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia will be able to make a positive contribution in realizing a young generation who is disciplined, noble, accomplished and has a responsibility for a better future so that it will have a positive impact on the Polri institution to be closer to the community and create a precise Polri," wrote the official statement of Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC.
The addition of the word Indonesia is also interpreted as the team's vision to expand the supporter base throughout the country. Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia is no longer regional-based.
"The big vision is that Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC is owned by all football lovers throughout Indonesia," continued the club's official statement, as quoted from Antara, Friday, June 30.
Bhayangkara FC was formed in 2016 after acquiring ownership of the Surabaya United club. Surabaya United itself is a dualistic club from the Persebaya 1927 era that played in the Indonesia Premier League (IPL).
In addition to changing the name of the club, Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC will change home or home base to navigate the 2023/2024 season.
If in the 2022/2023 season the Guardians are based at Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Cikarang, West Java, this season will move to Patriot Stadium, Bekasi.
In the inaugural week of Liga 1, Bhayangkara Presisi Indonesia FC will undergo an away match against PSIS Semarang at Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, July 3.
