Viral Grass Stadium Damaged Due To Political Events, Menpora Ensures Persija Vs PSM Held In SUGBK

JAKARTA - Indonesian Menpora Dito Ariotedjo said the grass at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) was in good condition and was confirmed to be very ready to hold the 2023-2024 Liga 1 match between Persija Jakarta and PSM Makassar.

The statement was made by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) after a viral video narrated that the grass at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium was badly damaged after political activities some time ago.

"The grass is good," said Menpora Dito, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 29.

According to Dito, he has coordinated and mediated with PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), PSSI, and the board of directors of Gelora Bung Karno regarding the viral news regarding the damaged grass conditions.

Dito also ensured that Persija Jakarta vs PSM Makassar's inaugural match would still be held on 2 July.

"League 1, the match between Persija Jakarta and PSM Makassar yesterday was a bit crowded (on social media). Thank God this morning at 10.00 WIB it was determined (Persija vs PSM) to remain on July 2 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium," said Menpora Dito.
