JAKARTA - The League 1 competition will use a new format in its implementation in the 2023/2024 season. This decision received good response from a number of clubs and football stakeholders in the country.
Currently PSSI as the highest football federation in the country and PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the competition operator is still preparing carefully for the use of the new format for next season. The new format that will be used is to change the old format, namely the away cage to the Championship Series. Later the competition will use Final Four system which brings together the top four teams at the end of the regular standings.
This format is said to make the competition even more fierce because whose winning team will only be known at the end of the season. This change in format was welcomed by the Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of PSSI, Zainudin Amali.
In a joint discussion event in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Amali said that structuring competition skills is important things that must be considered.

It may not satisfy all parties but at least in stages we have started this procedure,” he said in a discussion event entitled Liga Indonesia 2023/2024, Untung Rugi Format Baru which was held by SeeJontor FC.

Because one component of the competition is said to be good, it is dynamic and it is unpredictable who won. We are racing the quality of the club itself. Because if the club has good quality, the competition is also good," said Tigor.
Persiba Balikpapan CEO, Gede Widiade, who was also present, then hoped that PSSI and PT LIB could pay more attention to League 2 clubs which had been considered only ‘ complete ’. He hopes that in the future all League 2 clubs will also have a positive impact so that they can navigate the season to completion.
"If we talk about League 1 it's good, everything is good. When I was in League 1 I said anything good. Indeed, League 2 is a complement, so if the main character is League 1, League 2 is an extra, and that's what my friends at the federation (PSSI) don't realize," said Gede.
"Now we want to be in any model, earlier with any competition system model that wants to be changed. The schedule is extended, the number of matches is extended, for Liga 1 is sweet, for PSSI is sweet, for all sweet markets. But for Liga 2, it has been extended to die in the middle of the road."
