Defending The French National Team At The 2024 Paris Olympics Is On Kylian Mbappe's Hope List

JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player Kylian Mbappe has high hopes in his football career. He revealed that he has ambitions to defend the French national team at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the U-23 soccer sport.

"I don't know if to be there (Paris 2024 Olympics). However, I hope to be there," said Mbappe.

"Everyone knows, I always have a dream to play in the Olympics," Mbappe told ESPN on Friday, March 14.

Mbappe's ambition to be able to defend Les Bleus was not without reason. The reason is that when he was 18 years old he was trusted to appear with the French senior national team in 2018. The former AS striker Monaco immediately led his team to win the 2018 World Cup trophy.

Despite packing 68 caps for France's senior national team, Mbappe is still eager to help the French U-23 national team in hunting for gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Mbappe still has the opportunity to appear in the 2024 Olympics. The reason is that based on the provisions, the men's soccer team that appears in the Olympics can be strengthened by three players who are over 24 years old.

This has been proven by Dani Alves' involvement with the Brazilian U-23 national team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He, who is included in the category of senior players, still has the opportunity to play at the Olympics.

While appearing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Alves was 38 years old, but he finally succeeded in leading the Brazilian national team to a gold medal in the men's soccer branch at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Despite seeing the opportunity Alves had, Mbappe realized that the decision to appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics still depended on other factors. If he did not meet the specified factors, he would be heartened to give up the opportunity.

"We still have to learn all these factors. I will not force it. It is not on the FIFA calendar and agenda. If many people object to my presence at the Olympics, then I will not," said Mbappe.
