Persebaya Surabaya Dominates East Java Derby, Arema FC Is Beaten With A Thin Score Of 1-0

JAKARTA - Persebaya Surabaya won the East Java derby which took place at the PTIK Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 11 evening. Bajul Ijo won with a narrow score of 1-0.

In this match, Persebaya immediately appeared to attack as soon as the first half started. Aji Santoso's team got an opportunity from Sho Yamamoto's feet in the 17th minute using a through ball from Ze Valente.

The ball flows into the penalty box directly kicked by Sho. Unfortunately, the Arema FC defender managed to block the ball.

In the 22nd minute, Bajol Ijo again gets another chance from Paulo Victor's feet. The Brazilian player fired a hard kick inside the penalty box, but Teguh Amirruddin managed to brush the ball away.

Until the first half was over, Bajol Ijo had not succeeded in dismantling Arema FC's tight defense. Persebaya stuck with a score of 0-0.

In the second half, Persebaya was only able to break the deadlock in the 79th minute. It was Muhammad Iqbal who successfully recorded his name on the scoreboard after taking advantage of Ahmad Nufiandani's bait.

Arema actually had the chance to equalize in the extra minutes of the second half. Singo Edan was awarded a penalty in the 90+6 minute.
