STY's Fate Becomes A Question Mark After Indonesia Cancels Hosting The U-20 World Cup, PSSI Deputy: Don't Rush To Make A Decision

JAKARTA - Shin Tae-yong's career continuation as coach of the Indonesian national team is a question mark after FIFA officially canceled its host status for the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

Shin Tae-yong was actually contracted for three years and six months to coach the Indonesian national team. In his contract, he is also assigned to prepare the U-20 National Team for the U-20 World Cup.

However, with the cancellation of Indonesia as the host, the chance for Garuda Muda to appear is also running low. With the contract which will expire at the end of 2023, Shin Tae-yong's opportunity to leave early is also not closed.

PSSI Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) Zainudin Amali hopes that the South Korean coach will not rush to make a decision. Because PSSI must also carefully consider the coach's contribution so far.

"Coach (Shin Tae-yong) be patient first, please don't make a decision. We will decide what (steps) will be taken in the future," said Zainudin Amali at the Sultan Hotel on Thursday, March 30.

Met on the same occasion, Shin Tae-yong himself was reluctant to discuss the continuation of his contract. He revealed that so far there has been no further discussion about his fate in Indonesia.

"Honestly I can't answer because nothing has been discussed about the contract extension," said Shin Tae-yong.

But what is certain is that Shin is already hurt. He was disappointed with FIFA's decision because he did not briefly prepare the U-20 Indonesian national team for the World Cup.
