9 Losses That Can Appear If Indonesia Fails To Hold The 2023 U-20 World Cup

JAKARTA - The 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia is starting to be questioned. A wave of protests related to the participation of the Israeli team led to a polemic.

There are pros and cons. However, several parties have shown rejections, including those from the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster.

This rejection made FIFA finally decide to cancel the drawing agenda which was actually held in Bali, March 31.

This cancellation made national football fans even more worried that FIFA would cancel Indonesia's status as the host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

In fact, there was a trending topic containing the dark conditions of Indonesian football if Indonesia failed to become the organizer of the U-20 World Cup, according to PSSI's official website.

There are nine things that could happen to Indonesian football if later the U-20 World Cup is canceled. One of them is the freezing of status from FIFA or excluding from Indonesian football.

PSSI Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga said his party was trying to prevent Indonesia's status as the host from being revoked by FIFA. He said that the chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, was communicating and coordinating with related parties.

Starting from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and of course FIFA. Erick Thohir, continued Arya, will also report to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the current conditions.

"The chairman of PSSI will report to President Jokowi these processes and find the best solution to save Indonesian football," Arya said at a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday, March 26.

1. Indonesia will be frozen by FIFA.

2. Indonesia can be criticized by other countries for not carrying out its FIFA mandate.

3. Indonesia cannot participate in activities related to the FIFA calendar.

4. Indonesia will not have the opportunity to return to be selected by FIFA to host a sporting event.

5. Indonesia will be crossed out as a candidate to host the 2034 World Cup.

6. The world sports federation will consider not choosing Indonesia as the host of sporting events including the Olympics.

7. Indonesia will be criticized for acting discriminatoryly in mixing sports with politics.

8. Players, coaches, referees, clubs and the public lose their livelihoods and 500,000 people are more directly affected if Indonesian football stops.

9. The U16 national team, U19, U20 should not participate in international football events if FIFA freezes PSSI and has an impact on the loss of economic potential of nearly trillions of rupiah.
