Supporting The Electric Vehicle Ecosystem, PLN Will Operate 5 SPKLU In West Sumatra

Several districts and cities in West Sumatra in 2023 will have five units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) operated by the West Sumatra Main Distribution Unit (UID).

PLN's goal in presenting this is to support the electric vehicle ecosystem.

"Currently, three SPKLU units have been operating. By the end of 2023 it is targeted to increase by two more units. Now it is in process," said West Sumatra PLN UID General Manager Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho in Padang, Saturday.

He said the three SPKLU units that had been operating were in Padang, Solok, and Payakumbuh City. Meanwhile, the two SPKLUs in the process of building one unit each added in Padang and Dharmasraya.

His party is also working on licensing for development in Bukittinggi City. However, the priority for 2023 is the addition of two units in Padang and Dharmasraya.

The SPKLU carries the concept of fast charging with DC 50 power and 82.5 kW of multi-gyet, so it can carry out charging for two electric cars at once with a charging time of about 1.5 hours.

According to him, the addition of the SPKLU development is one of the steps taken by PLN UID West Sumatra to show commitment in the development of green energy in the province.

In addition to the development of SPKLU, PLN UID's commitment to developing green energy is to increase the use of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) in West Sumatra.

"We take advantage of the abundant water potential in West Sumatra by building Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTMH) below 10 MW to reduce the use of fossil energy," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, October 14.

PLN's commitment is in line with the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Sumatra so that in 2022 it will be successfully ranked second at the 2022 National Energy Council (DEN) Award for the Regional category that Optimizes the Use of New Renewable Energy.
