JAKARTA - The DPP of Diponegoro University Fisheries Alumni (Grouper) Family has recommended several concrete steps to the government regarding the national lobster cultivation industry. One of them is to take advantage of the lobster resource economy, while ensuring its sustainability.

Chairman of the Grouper DPP Abdul Kadir Karding asked the government to encourage an inclusive economy. This is aimed at the greater national interest.

"We want Indonesia to advance in exploiting the existing potential and this can be done by encouraging the national lobster cultivation industry," he said, in a webinar, Tuesday, July 14.

This member of the DPR RI from the PKB Faction emphasized that the implementation of lobster seed export, which is currently allowed due to the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number 12 of 2020, must be accompanied by supervision and control of catch quota.

Not only that, Karding also suggested, the government, in this case KKP Minister Edhy Prabowo, to maintain the stabilization of lobster seed prices. This is so that the price of seeds at the fishermen level can be reached by cultivators.

"The government must ensure that the price of seeds can be affordable by cultivators. This is a requirement if cultivation is to develop in the country," he said.

Furthermore, Karding said, the increase in lobster seed prices was in line with the opening of export taps which resulted in exporters fighting over to buy seeds from fishermen. Moreover, the demand for exports to Vietnam is high.

"The export price of lobster seeds in Vietnam has risen sharply, on the other hand the demand continues to increase. I think this must be controlled," he said.

Karding said, what needs to be the focus of attention is how to regulate zoning, both zones for cultivation and capture zones, where it is important to ensure more measurable use of seeds.

According to Karding, it is absolutely necessary to encourage lobster cultivation, so that economic aspects and community welfare can be achieved, on the other hand, stock preservation must be maintained.

"I think this is our homework. I hope that a maximum of 3 years of domestic cultivation can improve. We have to reflect on Vietnam for this," he explained.

Responding to this, the Director General of Aquaculture, Slamet Soebjakto, emphasized that his party will continue to strive to encourage the national lobster cultivation industry.

Meanwhile, regarding the pros and cons of Permen KP 12/2020, Slamet admitted that everything was in accordance with the provisions. Therefore, Slamet hopes, all parties will support by starting to jointly play a role in advancing the domestic lobster cultivation industry.

"We have prepared a strategy and road map for its development. In essence, the interests of coastal communities are number one. We want through this cultivation to have a multiplier effect on the community's economy," said Slamet.
