Battalion 8/SMG Task Force Fails To Smuggle Alcohol In Mahakam Ulu

MAHULU Border security forces at the Long Bagun Post SSK IV Pamtas Indonesia-Malaysia Yonzipur 8/SMG, have again uncovered illegal liquor smuggling (Miras) in the waters of Mahakam Ulu (Mahulu), East Kalimantan (Kaltim).

Dansatgas Yonzipur 8/SMG, Lt. Col. Czi Imam Subekti said, this disclosure is clear evidence of the TNI's commitment to eradicating all forms of law violations in border areas.

"On Monday morning at around 03.20 WITA, when the patrol team was conducting routine checks along the Mahakam Ulu River, precisely in the Tikah area, Ujoh Bilan Village, Long Bagun District, they found a suspicious speed boat parked on the riverbank," said Lt. Col. Czi Imam Subekti, Monday, December 16.

"After further inspection, a large number of various brands of liquor were found hidden in the boat," he continued.

From the results of the examination, hundreds of illegal liquor were found which were successfully secured.

A total of 192 bottles of alcohol from various brands were secured, namely 156 bottles of red wine, 24 bottles of white wine, and 12 bottles of Lion Raja. All of the evidence has now been secured at the Long Bagun Post and will soon be handed over to the wetting party in Long Bagun District for further legal proceedings," he explained.

This disclosure is the result of ongoing efforts by the unit in maintaining security and public order in border areas.

"The smuggling of liquor is not only against the law, but also has the potential to cause various social problems, such as disturbances in security and order, as well as public health problems," he said.

Lt. Col. Czi Imam Subekti said that his party would continue to increase the intensity of patrols and supervision in border areas to prevent similar actions from occurring in the future.

"We also appeal to the entire community to participate in maintaining environmental security by reporting any suspicious activities to the weaving parties," he said.
