A Team Of Doctors At Sungailiat Hospital, Bangka, Finds Kawasaki Diseases In Toddlers

JAKARTA - A team of doctors at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of the Bahrin Sungailiat Regent, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands found a Kawasakit disease that attacked a toddler with the initials RA (4), a resident of Sungailiat City.

Pediatrician at the Depati Bahrin Hospital, Dr. Fadhilah Ihsani, SpA, said that Kawasaki's disease was first discovered at the hospital.

He explained that Kawasakikatau Kawasakidisease disease is a condition that causes inflammation on the walls of "vasculitis" blood vessels and generally attacks children, especially those under the age of five.

The toddler was known to have been infected with Kawasaki's disease after an operation was carried out and found his dead intestine was inflamed. The operation was carried out as recommended by Dr. Goklash, SpB as the doctor in charge of the service.

However, after surgery, the patient's fever did not decrease, there were symptoms of red eyes, swelling in the legs, and blue nails.

Then, from the observations of pediatricians, Dr. Fadhilah Ihsani, SpA and cardiologist Dr. Endang Kusreni, SpJP found swelling in the heart blood vessels based on the results of an Echocardiography orUSGjantung examination. From the emergent symptoms and the results of the examination, the toddler was diagnosed with a Kawasaki disease.

However, because this type of disease was first discovered at the Depati Bahrin Hospital and no medicine has been available for Immune Globulin Injection (Gamaraas), his party was forced to order drugs directly to drug distributors in Palembang, South Sumatra.

After the drug arrived and was immediately given 14 bottles of Gamaraas medication within 12 hours, the patient's condition began to improve and the symptoms had subsided.

The patient was treated for three days in the intensive care room and after his condition got better and was declared successful through the acute phase, returned to the regular treatment room.

After completing treatment at the Depati Bahrin Hospital, RA patients still need further examination so they are referred to Jakarta.

"The cause of this Kawasaki disease is not yet known for certain. This disease does attack children under the age of five more," said Fadhilah Ihsani.

He explained, the symptoms of this disease were initially similar to dengue fever. For example, the body temperature is high continuously for up to five days or more. After the body temperature is prolonged heat, it is usually followed by other symptoms such as dry lips and tongue and swelling and redness. Then a red rash appears on the body, red eyes, hands and feet swell and swelling of the lymph node in the neck area.
