NasDem Party's Step For The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party will soon discuss strategies to face the 2024 General Election. Their targets are lofty, winning in the Legislative and Presidential Elections which will be held five years from now.

In fact, the 2019 Election has only been completed. In the 2019 Election, the NasDem Party was in fifth position with 12.6 million votes or 9.05 percent of the national valid votes.

Meanwhile, the top position is PDI Perjuangan with 27 million votes or 19.33 percent. In order from the top, PDIP, Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, PKB, then the NasDem Party.

The NasDem Party is in coalition with 10 parties to support Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin in the 2019 Election. This coalition is against the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno pair supported by the Gerindra Party, PKS, PAN, and the Democratic Party. In this election, Jokowi-Ma'ruf won.

Secretary General of the NasDem Party, Johnny G Plate, said that his party's strategy for facing the 2024 General Election will be discussed at the congress, including the system and model for recruiting presidential candidates. The congress was held as well as a celebration of the party's eighth anniversary, on November 8-11 at JiExpo Kemayoran.

"Starting from building a coalition, forming a convention, or other models that are believed to fulfill the presidential election ticket or met the threshold requirements."

At the congress, a number of regional heads are invited, including DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and NTT Governor Victor Laiskodat.

For Anies, he was given the opportunity to give a speech as the host for the congress and regional political coach. Moreover, said Johnny, Anies was one of the founders of the mass organization NasDem. So, that opportunity is a natural thing.

"It is part of the NasDem family. We will not deny history, history, it is recorded as the history of the NasDem party," said Johnny.

Chairman of the DPP NasDem Party Willy Aditya added, before implementing the 2024 Election strategy, this party will focus on the 2020 Regional Head Election competition which will be held in 19 regions, consisting of 16 cities and 3 districts. They are aiming for a 50 percent win. This amount is 10 percent below the PDIP.

"Several elections ago we got good results and now is how to maintain it and if the target is as much as possible but at least 50 percent."

In addition, this congress also discussed the chairmanship of the general chairman. Currently, the NasDem Party is led by Surya Paloh and his term of office is running out.

Johnny said the party's grassroots still wanted Surya Paloh to lead this party. Although getting a lot of support, the election of the general chairman must pass according to the party's statutes.

Although he will be led by Surya Paloh again, Johnny denies that this party is not carrying out regeneration. According to him, the meaning of regeneration in a party should not only be interpreted by the fact that one figure is still elected as chairman. Because, in this congress, there will also be a regeneration of all party officials.

"We will determine not only the personnel. The mechanisms and procedures in the executive and legislative political management and recruitment will also be a regeneration for us, not just the general chairman," said Johnny.
