JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan did not budge when asked about the eviction of a number of junk business places and residents' residences on Jalan Sunter Agung Perkasa VIII, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

This eviction took place on Saturday, November 16th. Dozens of evicted victims questioned the promise of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. A resident named Subaidah believed Anies had said he would not evict the Sunter area.

"We are all supporters of Anies, but why were we evicted? He said there were no evictions during the campaign," said Subaidah, Saturday, November 16.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of North Jakarta, Sigit Wijatmoko, claimed that those who took up Anies' campaign promise were not DKI residents. Sigit said that they were not even included in the voter list in the 2017 DKI Governor Election.

"They are not registered at the TPS (polling station) or DPT (final voter list). (They) don't even participate in the election. Whose claim is that on behalf of the voter?" said Sigit when met at City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 18.

During the election for the governor and deputy governor of DKI in 2017, Anies emphasized that he would not continue the eviction program carried out by the current government.

"We will not eliminate the poor through evictions. We will reorganize the city or tour by renewal," Anies said, Friday, January 13, 2017.
