JAKARTA - The number of COVID-19 cases has increased. After President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) last week announced his exposure to four people, earlier this week the authorities again announced two cases. This means that a total of six confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The spokesperson for handling COVID-19, Achmad Yurianto conveyed the findings after the examination was completed by the laboratory. "From the laboratory results, there are two positive cases," said a spokesman for Yuri's handling at a press conference at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Sunday, March 8.

Yuri said, of the cases identified number 05, the sufferer was a 55-year-old man. He was tested positive for the COVID-19 virus after the government carried out tracking contact from the previous case. The patient is currently being treated at the Sulianti Saroso Infection Center Hospital (RSPI), Jakarta.

Meanwhile, for case 06, said Yurianto, the sufferer was also a man. He is younger, which is 36 years. The patient is known to work as a crew on the cruise ship Diamond Princess. He is currently being treated at the Friendship Hospital, Jakarta.

Exposure on board

It is known that there are 72 crew members of the Diamond Princess ship from Indonesia. On the cruise ship, there were 3,700 people, both passengers and crew, of whom 621 tested positive for COVID-19. Two of the passengers were declared dead due to exposure to the corona virus or COVID-19.

Returning to the two new cases, according to Yuri, currently all of them are in stable condition and have no complaints, including coughs and colds. "The conditions of both are stable. They don't need oxygen, don't have an IV, are fully conscious, don't have a fever, don't have a cough, and don't have a cold," he said.

On that occasion, Yuri also conveyed the current condition of the child and mother who became the first COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. He said the cases identified as cases 01 and 02 are currently awaiting laboratory examination results.

If it has been declared negative, then both of them will be invited to return home from RSPI Sulianti Saroso, Jakarta. "Just waiting for the laboratory examination. If it has been negative twice, there are no complaints whatsoever, it will be sent home," said the Secretary of the Directorate General of PDP, Ministry of Health.

As for cases 03 and 04, Yuri said their condition continued to improve and even had no more fever. Meanwhile, for a cold cough, according to him, it still exists even though it has improved than before.

Even though these patients will recover and go home from the hospital, Yuri reminded them that they still have to maintain their health because it is not impossible for them to be infected with the virus again, so for former people with the COVID-19 virus and the community, he said prevention education would continue to be carried out. .

For example, using a mask if you are sick, washing your hands regularly and other precautions. Moreover, this virus has entered its second phase where the sufferers do not show any symptoms.

Former COVID-19 patients who were discharged after being negative were also asked not to rush into their activities. According to Yuri, patients under surveillance who are in a negative condition for the virus must isolate themselves for 14 days. This should also be done by a person under surveillance, who has tested negative for the virus after being tested in the laboratory.

"Some cases where PDP was negative and were allowed to go home, so the next step we will do self-isolate," he explained.

Self-isolation refers to patients being asked to stay indoors for 14 days. During that time, Yuri said, they were asked to keep wearing masks and reduce close contact with their families.

During the 14 days of isolation, the local health office or puskemas will monitor their condition. "If it's good and it says it's okay then socialize as usual."
