JAKARTA - Until now, there is no regulation and prohibition stating that a child cannot become president if his father has served as president. It turns out that there are several facts about father and son who happen to be president. Here's the list.

The first is in the United States, namely the couple of father and son John Adams and John total Adams. John Adams is the 2nd US President to rule from 1797-1801. While his son John total Adams became the 6th US President to rule from 1825-1829. Second, still from Uncle Sam's Country, there is George Herbert Walker Bush or Bush Senior who is the father of George Walker Bush. Bush Senior served as the 41st President of the United States with a 1989-1993 administration. And then his son George Walker Bush who served as 43rd President for the 2001-2009 period.

The third is in Indonesia, namely Ir. Soekarno and his son Megawati Soekarnoputri. President Soekarno ruled from the time of Indonesia's Independence 1945-1967. Then 34 years later Mrs. Megawati became the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2001-2004 period through the vice president's path which was clamation by members of the MPR to replace the then elected president Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur who was impeached through the MPR Special Session.

The fourth comes from the Philippines, namely Ferdinand Marcos Senior and Ferdinand Marcos Junior. Ferdinand Marcos became the 10th President with a reign of 1965-1986. During his time as President, Marcos Sr. is known to be a dictator who forces and encourages his son to participate and get involved in politics. Finally Ferdinand Marcos Junior also participated in the presidential election in 2022 and won a landslide victory with a total of 30 million votes. This made him 17th Philippine President.

Finally, there is Hafez al-Assad, Bashar al-Assad's father and both of them are Presidents in the Syrian State. Hafez al-Assad served as President from 1971-2000 and is known as a brutal leader for being involved and even being the mastermind behind the coup of the previous Syrian leader. And then his son, Bashar al-Assad, became the President of Syria who still rules today.

He replaced his father a month later after President Hafez was found dead in his office due to a heart attack. It is known that Bashar was elected President of Syria purely from the results of the people's votes. In the 2000 election, he received a total of 99.7 percent of the vote, the 2007 election received a total of 97.6 percent of the vote and finally the 2014 election he received a total of 88.7 percent of the vote.
