8 Months Fugitive, Police Arrest Perpetrator Of The Ojek Murder Case In Papua

Police arrested the perpetrator with the initials AB (20) who was suspected of killing a motorcycle taxi driver on Jalan Wogi (Special).

PAPUA - Police arrested the perpetrator with the initials AB (20) who was suspected of killing a motorcycle taxi driver on Jalan Wogi, Mappi Regency, South Papua. It is known that the perpetrator was arrested after 8 months of running away from the pursuit.

Mappi Police Chief AKBP Yustinus confirmed the arrest. He was arrested on Thursday, November 16.

"AB was arrested on suspicion of having killed a motorcycle taxi driver on Jalan Wogi Kepi in April 2023," Yustinus said in his statement, Sunday, November 19.

"The AB perpetrator who was arrested while riding a motorbike around the Kalimantan road, had fought back so that officers in the field fired warning shots into the air to pressure the perpetrators who were trying to fight the officers at that time," he continued.

Currently, the perpetrators have been taken to the Mappi Police for further investigation.

During the investigation, said Yustinus, the perpetrator had admitted his actions. He took action with three of his colleagues, who at that time originally planned to ask the victim for cigarettes, who was washing his motorbike on the side of the road.

"The perpetrators who were already drunk with the intention of asking for cigarettes, but the perpetrators instead beat the victim, causing the victim to suffer stab wounds and die," he said.

Currently, the perpetrators are still being investigated. The goal is to find out the motive for the action.

Regarding the three fellow perpetrators, he admitted that he had known his identity. Now being chased.

"We have pocketed the identities of the three perpetrators who are still at large, we will continue to pursue the three perpetrators," he concluded.
