Lemhanas Asks For Strengthened Border Information Networks

TANJUNG CELLOR - The National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (Lemhanas RI) requested that information networks on state borders in Nunukan Regency must be strengthened to increase the integration of national values and nationalism.

"And one of the steps that can be taken is to strengthen the role and capacity of the RRI LPP (Indonesian Republic of Indonesia Radio Public Broadcasting Institute) in Nunukan," said Deputy for Strategic Studies at Lemhanas RI Reni Mayerni in Nunukan, Saturday.

The desire to strengthen the role and capacity of RRI received a positive response from the Head of LPP RRI Nunukan, Dewi Wahyuni.

According to Dewi, the capacity and strength of the RRI transmitter can continue to be improved so that more people can receive RRI broadcasts.

Currently, said Dewi, as reported by Antara, of the 21 sub-districts in Nunukan Regency, there are only about four to five sub-districts that are covered by RRI broadcasts. While the rest are still blank spots or there are no communication or broadcast signals.

RRI Nunukan, said Dewi, also only has three transmitters in Nunukan District, Sebatik District, and Krayan District, so it still needs to be reproduced.

To note, Lemhanas RI also asked for input from the Nunukan Regency Government which was conveyed by the Deputy Regent of Nunukan, Police Chief, Dandim, Head of the Communications and Information Service, Head of BMKG Nunukan, and the community.

All data, input, and suggestions received will be used as material for drafting recommendations to the President.

Pihak Lemhanas assesses that so far there has been a gap in information experienced by people living on the Indonesia-Malaysia border in Nunukan Regency.

People in the Sebatik and Nunukan areas, for example, hear more broadcasts from Tawau radio, Malaysia than listen to Indonesian radio broadcasts because Malaysian radio signals are much stronger.
