Hostage-taking In Germany, Hamburg Airport Closed And 27 Flights Canceled

JAKARTA - Airport in the city of Hamburg, northern Germany closed on Saturday night November 4 or Sunday 5 November WIB, after a car broke through into the location. German news agency DPA reported that the incident occurred after an armed man broke into the airport grounds and opened fire into the air. Police found a hostage situation, after the wife of the offender to the airport reported that her husband had taken her son away. German police said the 35-year-old man was carrying a 4-year-old child in the car, and assumed that he was his father who had taken the child forcibly from his mother in a possible custody fight. Federal police spokesman Thomas Gerbert told DPA that a large number of officers from state and federal police were on site and around the vehicle.
