Being the Only Hope of Palestinians in North Gaza, Indonesian Hospital Is in Energy Crisis

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Hospital in the Gaza Strip is the only hope for Palestinians in northern Gaza. Where, increasing Israeli attacks on the enclave.

As is known, Gaza has been bombarded non-stop since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

Volunteer for the humanitarian organization MER-C, Fikri Rofiul Haq, said that many fatalities and injured victims were rushed to the Indonesian Hospital because the hospital was the only hospital with adequate facilities in northern Gaza.

"Indonesian Hospital is the largest hospital in northern Gaza, so many injured and dead victims were rushed here," said Fikri, quoting Antara.

However, the Indonesian Hospital in the Gaza Strip is currently experiencing an energy crisis due to the lack of electricity. The hospital now only relies on two generators to carry out its activities.

Unfortunately, one of the two generators was damaged, while the one generator that was still functioning was constrained by a limited fuel supply.

The limited fuel is caused by the Israeli blockade which prevents supplies from entering the Gaza Strip.

"Indonesian hospitals actually have solar panels, but they can only be turned on during the day and their electrical power cannot power all (hospital equipment), so one generator is always on 24 hours," said Fikri.

He said that currently there are more than 2,000 people who have taken refuge in Indonesian Hospital.

At least 1,300 more victims, 60-80 percent of whom are children and women, have been taken to the hospital and more than 4,000 injured victims are currently being treated there.

Fikri said the number of injured victims was so large that they had to be treated in hospital corridors.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza says the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has killed more than 10,800 people, including 9,227 Palestinians.

Israel's siege of the Gaza Strip has also made supplies of basic necessities such as food, water and medicine increasingly scarce.
