BMKG Weather Forecast Today: Bandung Predicted Rain, Sunny Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) on an official website broadcast in Jakarta, Saturday, predicts rain will flush a number of areas in Indonesia today.

A number of areas such as Banda Aceh, Padang, Medan, Jambi, Pangkalpinang, Bandung, Denpasar, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Mataram, Mamuju, and Makassar are predicted to rain with light intensity.

Meanwhile, rain with moderate intensity is predicted to occur in a number of areas such as Tanjung Pinang and Serang. Rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in Pontianak.

BMKG also reported cloudy weather in a number of areas such as Bengkulu, Pekanbaru, Semarang, Manado, Ambon, Ternate, and Manokwari. The weather with thicker clouds is predicted to occur in Palembang, Samarinda, and Jayapura.

Then sunny cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Bandar Lampung, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Tarakan, Gorontalo, and Kendari.

Sunny weather is also predicted to occur in Surabaya and Kupang with air temperatures ranging from 24-36 degrees Celsius.

Head of BMKG Dwikorita Karnawati has conveyed an appeal to residents to be aware of the possibility of extreme weather conditions during the transition of the dry season to the rainy season.

"Extreme weather has great potential to occur during the transitional season, starting from heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds and hail," he said.

In general, during the transition period, the weather is usually sunny in the morning, the clouds start to grow during the day, and it rains in the late afternoon or evening.

According to him, cumulonimbus clouds that look like gray cauliflowers with clear edgelines usually grow in the morning before noon. Towards the afternoon, the color of these clouds will turn dark and then rain, lightning, and wind can occur.

Dwikorita reminded that rain can cause wet hydrometeorological disasters such as floods and landslides.

"To people who live in hilly areas prone to landslides, we urge them to be vigilant and careful," he said.
