Ask The Minister To Get Involved In The 2024 Presidential Election To Resign, Needdem: Busy Taking Care Of Campaigns Not Maximumly Helping The Government

JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Association for Elections and Democracy (Perludem) Khoirunnisa Nur Agustyati assessed that the ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet (KIM) who are actively involved in the 2024 General Election and Presidential Election should resign from their positions in government.

"Because, after all, the minister is an assistant to the president, who was asked when he was asked to work full time, that's full. Because if later he is more busy taking care of his candidacy, taking care of the campaign, so he is not optimally helping his government," said Khoirunnisa during a discussion at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Office, Jakarta, Monday, October 30, which was confiscated by Antara.

Although he did not resign from office, he hoped that at least the ministers involved in the 2024 General Election should take time off.

According to him, the period before the campaign, which officially started in November 2023, was a crucial period for Bawaslu to carry out his duties.

"If it's the campaign period, they have to leave. Now, (they) can argue that this is not a campaign period, then there are no candidates yet. This is precisely what Bawaslu must anticipate," he added.

Then, Khoirunnisa added that Bawaslu does not need to wait for the campaign period to carry out surveillance, so that there is no violation of authority by the ministers involved in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections.

"Bawaslu yesterday some things did not follow up, on the grounds that it was not yet a campaign period, there were no candidates. Well, this is actually more crucial in my opinion," he said.

For information, there are at least two ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet who have officially registered as candidates for the 2024 presidential election, namely Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto as candidates for president (candidate) and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD as candidates for vice president (cawapres).

As is known, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has received registrations for three pairs of candidates for presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The Anies-Cak Imin pair was promoted by the NasDem Party, PKB, PKS and the Ummat Party.

The pair Ganjar-Mahfud were promoted by PDIP, PPP, Perindo and Hanura.

The KPU has set a campaign period for the 2024 General Election from 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024, while the vote is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
