Vice President: Women's Organizational Cooperation Must Be Strengthened Ensure Equality

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that cooperation in women organizations must be strengthened to ensure equality in accessing education to health.

In the opening of the Asean Confederation Of Woman's Organization (Acwo) Forum And Expo 2023, the Vice President said that women can contribute by exchanging knowledge, thoughts and experiences and strengthening friendship through forum organizations.

"Cooperation must also be strengthened to ensure equal access for women to education, job and business opportunities, as well as health facilities," said the Vice President when giving a virtual speech at the ACWO Forum and Expo Jakarta reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 24.

According to the Vice President, women who dominate the ASEAN population play an important role in advancing and prospering ASEAN member countries and in the ASEAN region.

In the forum organized by KOWANI, the Vice President expressed his appreciation for consistency in fighting for women's rights and welfare, considering that women's organizations are important partners of the government in making ASEAN a center of sustainable growth in the region and in the world.

The Vice President assessed that women are at the forefront of mainstreaming issues of gender justice, as well as implementing policies related to women's economic empowerment, inclusive development, as well as political and leadership participation, both at the national level, and at ASEAN.

In addition, the Vice President assessed that women's progress was vital. Women's toughness during the COVID-19 pandemic is considered to be the driving force for the economy through micro, small and medium enterprises. In addition, women are the key to family development.

"Women care for families which is the foundation for the establishment of a solid ASEAN community. Women also play a key role in teaching and spreading moderation values to the younger generation, starting from the family," said Vice President Ma'ruf.

Closing his remarks, the Vice President officially opened the ASEAN Women's Organization Confederation Forum and Expo in 2023 and hoped that the activity could provide many benefits for women in ASEAN.
