JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has marathonly examined witnesses in an effort to uncover cases of alleged corruption in the form of extortion or gratification by the KPK leadership against former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL.

Most recently, the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK for the 2007-2011 period with the initials M will be questioned, today.

"One witness from the former Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian KPK for the period 2007-2011," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, to VOI, Wednesday, October 18.

However, it is not yet known who the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK will be used as a witness.

In his statement, Ade only conveyed that in today's series of examination processes, investigators would also examine 18 other witnesses.

Of the dozens of witnesses, one of them is Aide de Camp (ADC) or aide to KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, Kevin Egananta. He will undergo further examination.

"3 additional witnesses for examination, one of which is ADC, Chairman of the Indonesian KPK," he said.

Then, there were also 6 witnesses who were aides to echelon 1 officials at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture. One Pamwal Chairman of the Indonesian KPK, and 8 other witnesses.

As a reminder, the series of cases of alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received Dumas on August 12, 2023.

With the complaint, the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya collected information on the basis of a statement collection order (pulbaket) issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, investigators issued an investigation warrant on August 21. At this stage, a number of witnesses were examined, one of which was SYL.

Then, after the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.
