Around 19 Hectares Of Conservation Areas In North Sulawesi Caught Fire During The Dry Season

MANADO - About 19 hectares of conservation area in North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) caught fire during the dry season that hit the region in recent months.

"During this dry season, the dangers of forest and land fires must be anticipated," said Head of the North Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) Askhari Dg Masikki in Manado as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

The burned conservation area is the Batu Angus Nature Reserve, in Bitung City, approximately 12 hectares.

Likewise, the two-sudara Nature Reserve area, Bitung City, is also estimated to have burned seven hectares.

"It is suspected that the fire came from the community garden," he said.

Therefore, Askhari said, the mitigation step that can be taken is to urge the public not to open agricultural land by burning.

According to him, forest and land fires can occur triggered by cigarette butts that are thrown away without being turned off, and then endanger forest areas in conservation areas such as the current dry season.

"We also hope that from the sub-district, sub-district and local governments, we urge all communities, especially communities around the area to participate in protecting the forest and land in the area," he said.
