JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) officially announced former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo as a suspect in alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture. He was appointed along with two of his subordinates, Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono and Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery of the Ministry of Agriculture Mohammad Hatta. "“Determine and announce the suspect as follows the SYL of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019-2024,”" said KPK Deputy Chair Johanis Tanak at a press conference at the Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 11. Currently, the new anti-corruption commission has detained the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono. Johanis said Syahrul's men were detained for the first 20 days until October 30. "“SYL and MH confirmed that they could not attend for that we remind them to be cooperative and immediately fulfill the KPK investigation team," he said. The KPK said the three were suspects in alleged extortion related to the position and procurement of goods and services as well as receiving gratuities. For information, Syahrul did not show his nose because he was visiting his sick mother. A confirmation letter has also been sent by representatives of his legal team to the KPK to ask for a reschedule.
