Karhutla In Kaltara Significates, Central Government Appreciates

TANJUNG SELOR - Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Zainal A Paliwang said the Forest and Land Fires (Karhutla) in Kaltara had experienced a significant decline since 2019.

This was conveyed by him while attending the Forest and Land Fire Control Coordination Meeting (Karhutla) which was held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

In 2022 when compared to 2019 there will be a decrease in the accumulation of forest and land fires covering an area of 8,189 Ha or 95,68 percent.

Meanwhile, until August 2023, the area of forest and land fires in Kaltara is 364.05 ha, which is still lower than in 2022 which is 370 ha.

"Karhutla di Kaltara tahun 2023 lebih dominal terjadi pada jenis mineral dengan tutupan lahan non hutan yang umumnya terjadi pada area sekarang dan berada luar kawasan hutan. Secara keseluruhan, kejadian Karhutla di Kaltara merupakan kegiatan penyiapan lahan untuk berkarang, yang pembakarnya terkendali dan didampingi anggota Brgidal Karhutla dan Group Masyarakat Peduli Api," kata Gubernur Kaltara, Selasa, 10 Oktober.

The Governor of Kaltara said that the prediction of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding the threat of El Nino this year will have an impact on several things, one of which is increasing the number of Karhutla points like in 2019.

Seperti beberapa wilayah Indonesia khususnya pulau Kalimantan dan Sumatra muncul beberapa titik kebakaran yang menimbulkan suas saja, tak luncur juga wilayah Kaltara sehingga perlu perhatian dari semua sektor mulai dari Pemerintah, TNI, Polri, dan seluruh stakeholder untuk mengatasi Karhutla.

"The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Kaltara and all stakeholders have worked hand in hand in controlling and preventing increased forest and land fires with concrete steps such as conducting routine patrols to prevent forest and land fires. We also continue to coordinate with all stakeholders both with the TNI, Polri, and the community to prevent forest and land fires. We have formed Fire Care Community (MPA), and the Karhutla Control Brigade (Brigdal) to the village level," explained Zainal Paliwang.
