Projo Jatim Supports Prabowo-Gibran In The 2024 Presidential Election

The East Java Pro Jokowi (Projo) Regional Leadership Council (DPD) supports Prabowo Subianto in pairs with Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate, through "Conferda Projo" in Surabaya.

Acting (Plt) DPD Projo East Java Handoko said the determination of the support was in accordance with the results of the vote taken from the Projo Branch Leadership Council (DPC) in East Java.

"The results of the plenary session were from 29 votes who came in for a presidential candidate from the DPC to propose Pak Prabowo Subianto, three DPCs of Mr. Ganjar Pranowo, and the rest followed the DPP's decision," said Handoko, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, October 7.

Then for the results of the voting for the prospective vice presidential candidate as many as 22 DPC Projo proposed Gibran Rakabuming Raka and seven votes to support Ganjar Pranowo.

"The rest is one DPC proposed by Pak Prabowo, one DPC Bu Khofifah, and one DPC Pak Mahfud MD," he continued.

Handoko said the results of today's conference were proposals or recommendations and were ready to be brought to the Projo National Working Meeting (Rakernas) agenda which was held on October 14, 2023.

"We are the voice from East Java, later the results of the National Working Meeting will decide who is supported by the DPP and we will follow," he said.

Regarding the reasons for support for Prabowo-Gibran, he stated that most Projo members in East Java considered that the two could complement each other, so recommendations for pairing the two emerged.

He said Prabowo had a brave, firm, and authoritative character, while Gibran was seen as a representation of the young.

"Mas Gibran has his own aspect close to our demographics, which is the majority of the younger generation," he said.

As is known, in the second era of President Joko Widodo's leadership, Prabowo Subianto held the position of Minister of Defense (Menhan). Meanwhile, Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka is the biological son of the head of state.

Regarding the influence of Prabowo and Gibran's closeness with President Joko Widodo, Handoko did not explain for sure. He only said that Projo members already understood the steps taken by the head of state.

"These friends have followed Pak Jokowi's steps since 2013, of course they can read the gestures, directions, communication style of Pak Jokowi, which is the projo soap opera," he said.
