'I Have No Reason,' Says 18 Year Old Teenager in Japan After Slashing 3 People in Shopping Center

JAKARTA - It is unknown what made an 18 year old teenager in Japan have the heart to slash three people in a shopping center on Monday, September 25. The perpetrator has been arrested by police in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture.

According to police, the incident took place at around 11.20 at Senshu Mall near the river. Quoted from Kyodo News via japantoday.com, Tuesday, September 26, the police initially received a report via emergency telephone from someone who was at the location.

The caller said people had been injured by a man holding a knife.

The victims included two women in their 40s and 60s who suffered injuries to their necks, and a mall employee in her 40s who suffered injuries to her back while trying to subdue the suspect.

Fortunately, the injuries suffered by the three victims were not life-threatening.

The suspect, who has not been named, is a high school student living in Nagaoka City.

After the arrest, the perpetrator casually said he had no special reason for slashing the three victims.

"I had no special reason to do it," the perpetrator told local police.
