Airlangga's Turn Praises Kaesang's Steps To Enter PSI, Will He Join In KIM Support Prabowo?

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto said that the election of Kaesang Pangarep as Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) would have a good impact on the party because so far it has been imaged as a youth party. "The PSI general chairman is good, because that's why the party is a young party," said Airlangga when met at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, September 26. However, Airlangga was reluctant to speculate about the impact of the election of President Joko Widodo's youngest son as PSI Chairman for support for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition. This, he said, was because PSI had not yet officially joined the coalition of parties that carried Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate for the 2024 election. "For PSI the impact is positive because it has not officially entered, but technically it has," he said. Airlangga explained that the technical intention of PSI to join the coalition was the arrival of PSI representatives in a party secretary general-level meeting last week at the Golkar DPP to discuss the vision and mission of the coalition. "Technical yesterday participated in discussing the vision and mission in the Golkar Party. Previously, he had become a Golkar brother and sister party," said Airlangga. Airlangga was reluctant to reveal when PSI would declare support for Prabowo. "The leak asked there, I didn't prepare a leak," he added. The Forward Indonesia Coalition which carries the presidential candidate for the 2024 General Election, Prabowo Subianto, has not officially determined the candidate for vice president. Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023. As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
