Jokowi: Great Strength NU Needs To Be Consolidated

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) supports the Nahdlatul Ulama Family Movement (GKM) as a forum for consolidating NU's extended family at the grassroots level to organizational networks at the global level.

"The strength of NU is extraordinary. The number of members is very large, very large. It is spread throughout Indonesia and even spread across various countries," said President Jokowi when opening the Alim Ulama National Conference and the 2023 Nahdlatul Ulama Grand Conference at the Al Hamid Islamic Boarding School, Cipayung, East Jakarta, Monday, September 18.

He said the great strength of NU needs to be consolidated in the organization's forum well to improve quality, not only at social, religious, and humanitarian levels, but also in the fields of science and technology, to entrepreneurship.

President Jokowi agrees and fully supports the digitalization scheme in the NU organization, as the gateway to the consolidation of NU forces in the country, as well as those abroad.

"We all realize that the condition of Nahdiyin residents at the grassroots needs to be supported. The government welcomes the PBNU initiative to form NU GKM," he said.

This movement is very important to improve the quality of Indonesian families, especially Nahdiyin at the grassroots level, including young Nahdiyin who plays at the global level, as well as who is studying abroad.

President Jokowi said that Nahdiyin's efforts to pursue technological science education, artificial intelligence, predictive medicine are a big investment for the Indonesian people in the future.

Jokowi advised that all competencies obtained should not eliminate the identity of participants as Muslims and the Nahdiyin family.

"This is a great strength of NU to face the future. They must be linked to the people at the grassroots, they must be part of the solution for Nahdiyin at the grassroots and prosper the people," he said.
