Police Name 7 Suspects Of Clashes In Rempang Batam

The Barelang Police (Batam, Rempang, Galang) named seven of the eight people who were arrested during the clashes between residents of Rempang and the joint apparatus, named as suspects.

"Of the eight people who were arrested, one person has been sent home because there is not enough evidence on behalf of Boir. So seven people have been named suspects, namely Roma, Jakarim, Martahan, As Arianto, Pirman, Farizal and Ripan," said Kapolresta Barelang Kombes Nugroho Tri Nuryanto in Batam Riau Islands as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, September 9.

He explained that one person who was sent home was not proven to be involved in beating and throwing stones at officers when the clashes occurred on Thursday (7/9).

"One person was sent home, because from the amateur video footage and from the testimony of the other suspect, he was only limited to recording the incident, there was no beating or throwing stones at the officers. He and the other seven suspects also did not know each other, so there were no allegations of criminal acts found," he said.

The role of the seven suspects, he said, was to beat the officers with stones, bring catapults, machetes, and throw Molotov cocktails at the officers.

Nugroho said that currently the current situation on the 4 Rempang Galang bridge is safe to be conducive and active, the community is back to normal.

The process of installing the boundary marker can also be carried out smoothly, because there is no rejection from the residents.

"We, the integrated team, would like to thank the community, especially the people of Sembulang, for their cooperation in creating a conducive security and social security situation, hopefully in the future it will continue like this," he said.
