Registration Of Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates Proposed To Advance, PDIP Ready To Follow The Rules

The PDI-P (PDIP) is ready to follow the general election stage set by the General Elections Commission (KPU). Including, if the registration of presidential and deputy candidates advances from October 19 to October 10 as proposed later.

"Basically, the PDI-P is following all the stages set by the Indonesian KPU. If the KPU assigns registration, for example on the 10th (October, ed), we will follow the registration from the 10th to the 16th," Hasto told reporters in the Senen area, Central Jakarta, Saturday, September 9.

He emphasized that PDIP complies with all regulations related to elections. The party bearing the bull symbol is also always consistent in holding political ethics between contest participants.

"When we worked together we never left, we never betrayed. That's what PDIP did," he said.

Previously, the KPU was working on a draft regulation that stipulates registration of presidential-cawapes candidates to be carried out on October 10. This is different from KPU Regulation (PKPU) Number 3 of 2022 concerning Stages and Implementation of the 2024 General Election which states that registration will be opened on October 19.

In the new draft regulation, it is also stated that the 2024 presidential election campaign will begin after 14 days of determining the candidate pair.

If the election campaign will still be carried out on 75 days before the voting day, or to be precise on November 28, 2023, as regulated by PKPU 3 of 2022, the candidate pair must have been set on November 13, 2023. This is different from the previous regulation which determined the permanent candidate to be held on November 25.
