5 Districts In Makassar Clean Water Crisis

Makassar Mayor Ramdhan Pomanto stated that five sub-districts out of 15 sub-districts in Makassar City experienced a clean water crisis as a result of the long dry season.

"We have held a coordination meeting to deal with the water crisis and asked the BPBD to make a decree related to Makassar emergency response to drought," said Ramdhan Pomanto as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 6.

This policy was taken following a number of areas experiencing a clean water crisis, especially in five sub-districts in Makassar City.

The five sub-districts are Ujung Tanah, Tallo, Biringkanaya, Tamalanrea and parts of Panakkukang District.

The short-term policy to overcome the clean water crisis, continued Dhany as the mayor is called, PDAM Makassar together with the Fire Department, BPBD, sub-district and village heads to distribute clean water to areas affected by drought.

This was confirmed by Saskia, a resident of Lantebung, Tamalanrea District, Makassar City.

"In turn, residents in each RT/RW get clean water from PDAM tankers. That too is limited in the number of jerry cans so that all residents get clean water," he said.

Dian said, if you buy your own water from traders who carry dozens of jerry cans, at least Rp. 25,000 per day is needed to meet your bathing needs, cooking and consuming clean water.
