Operations Of 4 Companies That Cause Air Pollution In Jabodetabek Stopped By The Ministry Of Environment And Forestry

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) confirmed that it has stopped the activities of four companies that cause air pollution in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi or Jabodetabek areas. "We focus on activities that have the potential to cause PM2,5 pollution. If in our supervision we find other violations, then we also take action," said Director General of Environmental Law Enforcement and Forestry of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ratio Ridho Sani, in a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, August 23, which was confiscated by Antara. A total of four companies that were stopped by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, namely PT Wahana Sumber Rezeki and PT Untama Makmur Persada located in the Nusantara Bonded Area (KBN) Marunda, North Jakarta; PT Maju Bersama Sejahtera in the Caktera area, East Jakarta; and PT Pindo Deli 3 dumping activities located in Karawang Regency, West Java. At PT Wahana Sumber Rezki and PT Untama Makmur Persada, the Jabodetabek Air Pollution Control Task Force believes that the two Batamic Stockpile companies during their activities do not have a detailed Environmental Management Plan (RKL) and Environmental Monitoring Plan (RPL).

Meanwhile, PT Maju Bersama Sejahtera, KLHK believes that there are violations regarding the incompatibility of environmental documents with field conditions.

PT Pindo Deli 3, KLHK dumping activities believe that errors occurred in the installation of sampling holes that did not meet technical provisions, in the form of incorrect sampling methods,ILLing holes did not comply with the provisions, and there were indications of dilution. KLHK also believes that pulp and paper companies have coal waste dumping activities in the form of FABA that do not meet technical standards. "Our team is working to examine one by one the sources of emissions or polluters that affect the air quality in Jabodetabek," said Rasio. Since August 21, 2023, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry has deployed 100 personnel of surveillance officials and environmental impact control to six locations, namely Marunda, Cakung, Kelapa Gading, Pulo Gadung, Bekasi, and Karawang.

The team is tasked with supervising and cracking down on sources of immovable pollution, such as Steam Power Plants (PLTU) and Diesel Power Plants (PLTD), industry, burning open waste, electronic waste, and so on in the Jabodetabek area.

In addition to monitoring and taking action against sources of immovable polluters, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry is also trying to reduce emissions from motorized vehicle moving sources. The Director General of Environmental Pollution and Damage Control of the Ministry of Environment Sigit Reliantoro invites the public to conduct motor vehicle emission tests. The largest source of air pollution in Jabodetabek currently comes from motorized vehicles. "The efficiency of motor vehicle emission tests is already available in around 400 workshops in DKI Jakarta. The workshops are already available with certification and are directly connected to the existing systems in DKI Jakarta and KLHK," said Sigit.
