Karhutla Task Force Arrests Land Burning Perpetrators In Hulu Sungai Selatan

SOUTH KALIMANTAN - A man with the initials AH (40), a resident of Baru Village, West Daha District, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency, South Kalimantan, was arrested by the joint TNI-Polri Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Satgas Karhutla) during the burning of land.

"The perpetrator will be charged with Article 187 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 53 of the Criminal Code for committing a criminal act of intentionally burning which can cause general harm," said Hulu Sungai Selatan Police Chief (HSS) AKBP Leo Martin Pasaribu, Antara, Sunday, August 20.

The arrest of the perpetrators was carried out by the Karhutla Task Force Team on Saturday (19/8) afternoon at around 17.00 Central Indonesia Time (WITA).

He explained the chronology of the arrest of the perpetrator. At that time, the Karhutla Task Force Team together with the community were carrying out patrols in order to extinguish the fire on the burning land in Baru Village, Daha Barat.

The Karhutla Task Force team then found someone wearing a brown t-shirt burning land at the location.

"Seeing this, the Task Force Team shouted at the person not to burn and go to the location where the land burned down," said Leo.

Furthermore, the team secured the perpetrator of the burning of his land. When secured, the alleged perpetrator admitted that he had the initials AH in the interrogation admitted that he had burned an area of 18.23x16.09 meters.

However, the burning due to the perpetrator's actions did not have time to spread because the fire was successfully extinguished by the Karhutla Task Force Team. For this incident, AH together with the evidence have been secured to the HSS Police Headquarters.

"Currently I want to convey that we have carried out the socialization stage. No more people should face us when we are enforcing the law," said the Police Chief.

He stated that land fires will damage the environment and have an impact on air pollution and the criminal threat is very severe. His party continues to remind and urge the public to stop forest and land fires in an effort to preserve nature.
