KPU Opens Public Criticism Of DPR And DPD Candidates, Will Be Reported To Supporting Political Parties

Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari said the public could respond to the list of candidates (DCS) for candidates for legislative members of the DPR and DPD in the 2024 General Election.

The announcement of the names of the candidates who are included in the DCS will be announced starting tomorrow, Saturday 19-23 August. Meanwhile, the public can monitor it until Monday, August 28.

"When the list of temporary candidates is announced, the public can observe, provide responses, and provide input from August 19 to 28, 2023," said Hasyim during a press conference at the Indonesian KPU Media Center, Jakarta, Friday, August 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

Hasyim said the public could convey their response to the central KPU. In addition, the public can also give their views on DCS to the provincial KPU for DCS as a candidate for member of the provincial DPRD.

"Untuk (DCS bakal caleg) DPRD kabupaten/kota kepada KPU kabupaten/kota," ujar Hasyim.

He reminded that people who want to provide notes, inputs, or responses must have a clear identity and can be confirmed for truth. Later, the KPU will submit public records to political parties (political parties).

"We are stepping in to read or respond to responses and input notes from the public, we will confirm, we will clarify to political parties," he said.

In addition, the KPU will also ask for clarification from institutions that have the authority or authority, related to the community's records.

"For example, in response to education, we will also clarify if there is a response, yes, to institutions that have the authority or authority to take care of these educational institutions," explained Hasyim.

After the community response period and there has been clarification on the response, the KPU will conduct a harm on the draft list of permanent candidates (DCT) starting September 24, October 3, 2023.

The Indonesian KPU has determined 9,925 candidates for members of the DPR RI and 674 prospective members of the DPD RI. The names included in the DCS will be announced by the KPU through a number of mediums.
