Bawaslu Anticipates 4 Main Problems Ahead Of The 2024 General Election

JAKARTA - The General Election Supervisory Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (Bawaslu RI) noted that at least four main problems were faced ahead of the 2024 General Election and the agency had prepared a number of steps to anticipate it.

"These issues are related to the neutrality of ASN, the politics of money that we launched today, the politicization of SARA, and the campaign on social media," said Acting Head of the Indonesian Center for Research, Development, Education and Bawaslu Training Ibrahim Malik Tanjung, quoted by Antara, Sunday.

According to him, the four strategic issues must be a concern for election organizers so that the implementation of the five-year democratic party is more open, honest, and fair.

For this reason, Bawaslu formed a mapping of the vulnerability of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Elections and strategic issues as a more comprehensive, creative, attractive, and progressive prevention effort.

Bawaslu, continued Ibrahim, did this as an effort to prevent potential violations at the campaign stage starting in November 2023.

"Bawaslu has carried out a series of drafting, mapping vulnerabilities, strategic issues, and is ready to be conveyed to the public," he said.

The mapping of election problems is expected to be a reference for Bawaslu ranks throughout Indonesia and relevant stakeholders to oversee the stages of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Elections.

Ibrahim explained that the purpose of this mapping was to convey information about mapping the vulnerability of money politics practices in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Elections to the ranks of election organizers, stakeholders, and the general public.

"Then, get input from election activists and academics about strategies to prevent violations of the 2024 Simultaneous Elections and Elections related to strategic issues of money politics," said Ibrahim.
