Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD has called on the public to exercise their voting rights or not to abstain in the 2024 General Election.

If there is a thought that all candidates for leaders are bad, Mahfud invites people to continue to vote in the democratic party once every five years. He appealed to the public to choose a leader who has a little ugliness compared to other leaders.
"If you think, well, our candidate for leader doesn't have anything good, it's all bad. So don't vote, choose what's less bad, because there must be a leader," he said.
According to him, the community will lose on their own if they do not participate in the election, because the election is not looking for a good leader, but preventing eviler people from leading.
"There is a political philosopher who says this, 'the election is not looking for a good leader, it is difficult to present a good leader. But the election is to prevent people who are more evil from becoming leaders," said Mahfud.
He said that a good candidate for leader does not only listen to the aspirations of his group who only use electoral politics and identity politics but is able to listen to the aspirations of the people well.
"It takes maturity and maturity, especially political parties from the elite to grassroots level so that the five-year democratic process runs smoothly and safely," he said.
