Bareskrim Seizes 31 Evidences From The Search Of Islamic Boarding Schools, Mosques To The Gumilang Panji House

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police confiscated 31 pieces of evidence related to the blasphemy case that ensnared Panji Gumilang. This finding was obtained after investigators searched three places at the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School complex on Friday, August 4 last week.

"Investigators confiscated objects or evidence," said the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro in a written statement, Monday, August 7.

In detail, from LKM Rahmatan Lil Alamin, the Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School complex, nine items were confiscated. Then, from the residence of Panji Gumilang, there were also 18 items brought by investigators.

"(From, red) Al Hayat Mosque, Al-Zaytun Islamic Boarding School complex, Mekar Jaya Village, Gantar District, Indramayu Regency, West Java Province, four items were confiscated," said Djuhandani.

The confiscated items were from the owner or the owner in the name of Imam Parwoto. However, Djuhandani did not elaborate on the complete item.

Panji Gumilang was named a suspect in the alleged blasphemy case and was detained at the Bareskrim detention center. One form of blasphemy by calling the Qur'an an essay by the Prophet Muhammad.

In this case, Panji Gumilang is suspected of having multiple articles. First, Article 14 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison.

Then, Article 45A paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE with a threat of 6 years in prison

Finally, Panji Gumilang was also charged with Article 156 A of the Criminal Code. In this article, the penalty is 5 years in prison.
