Fatayat Balikpapan Reports Rocky Gerung About Hate Speech, PBNU Chairman: Not Representing NU

Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Yahya Cholil Staquf stated that the Fatayat NU Balikpapan action which reported Rocky Gerung to the police did not represent NU institutionally.

Fatayat NU Balikpapan in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) reported that the political observer was related to the alleged crime of hate speech.

"Yes, that's the right of the community. Yes, I think it's just a community group, yes. This means that it doesn't have to be considered to represent NU entirely institution," said Yahya Cholil at the UGM Campus, Yogyakarta, Friday, August 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Yahya, PBNU chose to hand over the handling of the case regarding the statement of political observer Rocky Gerung against President Joko Widodo to law enforcement.

"If it's us, we leave it to the law," he said.

The reason, he said, was that the alleged criminal act of hate speech related to Rocky Gerung, as reported by Fatayat NU Balikpapan, was not a complaint offense, so there was no need to wait for the party to report it.

"I don't think it's a complaint offense. If there is a legal problem there, you don't have to wait to be reported," he said.

Previously, the East Kalimantan Regional Police received reports of Fatayat NU Balikpapan and LPADKT with No: STPL/93/VIII/2023/SPKT I.

In the report, Gerung's statement was classified as hate speech or "hate speech" aka "haatzai articleen".

According to the Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Police, Police Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, so far the police have received four residents' reports about Rocky Gerung's statement, including the LPADKT report and residents of Fatayat NU Balikpapan.
