A Gang Of Fake Honey Sellers Arrested By Kapuas Police

KapUAS - Kapuas Resort Police, Central Kalimantan, arrested seven members of a fraudulent gang with the mode of selling counterfeit honey, resulting in victims losing millions of rupiah.

"They were arrested in Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, on Tuesday (1/8). The initials of the seven perpetrators were KG, RG, DZ, SG, and AN from North Sumatra, as well as HD and MY from Aceh," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kapuas Police, AKP Iyudi Hartanto, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.

Iyudi said the arrests of the seven perpetrators were after reports from victims who were deceived by tens of millions of rupiah for buying fake honey offered by the perpetrators.

The roles of the seven perpetrators in committing fraud against the victim are different. MY perpetrators as car tenants as well as fake honey sellers and the mastermind of fraud, then AN as a forest fake honey seller with MY.

Suspect SG as the person who will buy large amounts of honey, HD as a fake honey maker, DZ as the delivery of the motorbike used by MY and AN perpetrators to the victim's place.

Meanwhile, KG and RG actors as assistants for cooking and wrapping fake honey. Apart from Kapuas, they also sell fake honey in the Pulang Pisau, Palangka Raya, West Kotawaringin, and Pelaihari (Kalsel) areas.

"The fake mix is made from white sugar, baking powder, sitrun acid, soy sauce, water, and wasp nest," explained Iyudi.

From the hands of the suspects, the police confiscated evidence of one gas stove along with a 3 kilogram LPG cylinder, one large silver pot, one pack of sugar weighing 1 kilogram, one plastic package containing a 1 kilogram bee, several fake honey packs with 100 kilograms of plastic packaging, and two motorcycles.

The police charged the suspects with Article 378 of the Criminal Code regarding criminal acts of fraud.

"Currently, we have secured the perpetrators and evidence at the Kapuas Police Headquarters for further investigation," added AKP Iyudi Hartanto.
