DKI KPU Asks Political Parties Not To Install Attributes During The ASEAN Forum

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata asked political party officials (parpol) not to install campaign attributes during the ASEAN Indo Pacific Forum (AIPF) activity on September 5-7, 2023.

"We invite political parties to participate in organizing the ASEAN Forum by not putting up flags and attributes, especially on the protocol road," Wahyu said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 2.

Wahyu directed the installation of flags and campaign attributes to be publicly allowed 25 days after the stipulation of the campaign period, namely in November (18/11).

Currently, political parties can conduct socialization and political education to internal parties that can be held in limited meetings by informing the implementation of it one day before its implementation to the KPU.

"Even if there are those who continue to install the attributes of political parties, the DKI Jakarta KPU does not have the authority to take action. This is under the authority of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government," said Wahyu.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta National and Political Unity Agency (Kesbangpol), Taufan Bakri, said that his party would coordinate with the Satpol PP and related agencies within the DKI Jakarta Province so that all parties, especially political parties, can carry out the appeal of the DKI Jakarta KPU.

Taufan hopes that with this collaboration with the DKI KPU, the implementation of the ASEAN Forum can be carried out smoothly and safely.

"This aims to maintain the beauty of the city ahead of the implementation of the ASEAN Forum," said Taufan.

Previously, the ASEAN Governor and Mayor's Meeting (Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals/MGMAC) and the ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) 2023 became an event to exchange experiences to overcome problems in DKI Jakarta.

"This is also an experience for Jakarta or maybe other countries that have overcome this problem to exchange experiences on how to overcome it," said DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary (Sekda) Joko Agus Setyono.

Exchange experiences, said Joko, in terms of the best practices (best practices) can be an input for Jakarta in building sustainable cities and improving the economy of ASEAN member countries.
