Heru Budi Considers It Fair For The Government To Show Off The IKN Development Video At The Regional Head Forum In ASEAN

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono explained the government's reason for showing off the video of the development of the National Capital (IKN) Nusantara in the 2023 Meeting of Governors and Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC) & ASEAN Mayors Forum (AMF) forum (AMF).

Heru explained that the government was trying to explain to the delegation of regional heads throughout ASEAN that the capital city of Indonesia would move to East Kalimantan and Jakarta to become a special area.

"We convey that the moving of the capital city is ongoing. We convey that if the capital city has moved to IKN, Jakarta will still be special," he continued.

According to Heru, this is natural to do, even promoting the transfer of the capital city to neighboring countries. Perhaps, there are countries that are interested in collaborating and investing in development in IK.

"It is only natural that all of us, including us, the local government, promote, convey, inform ASEAN members at the governor and mayor level that this is a government program to build the capital, IKN and that is natural," said Heru.

"Next, promoting it will be better. So, there are positive values they can catch, it depends on ASEAN cities," he continued.

However, Heru did not explain whether there were already regional heads in these Southeast Asian countries who expressed interest in their government investing in the archipelago.

"That will be asked at the central (government) level," he replied.

For information, the screening of the IKN development video was broadcast before the reading of a speech by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Retno also mentioned the IKN Nusantara which is planned to be officially run by the government next year. Retno shows off, IKN is projected as a carbon-neutral city.

"The video has been shown in the new capital city of Indonesia, the archipelago. This is a manifestation of Indonesia's commitment to transform into more inclusive and sustainable in the future with IKN to become the first city in Indonesia, the neutral carbon city in 2045", said Retno at the Fairmont Hotel, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, August 1.
