A Herd Of Robbers Of Boks Cars Disguised As Police Arrested By The West Kalimantan Police

PONTIANAK - The Jatanras Resmob Team of the West Kalimantan Police Ditreskrimum arrested seven perpetrators who pretended to be police officers and robbed a box car for the export of retail stores in Tayan District, Sanggau Regency.

"We managed to arrest the perpetrators last Sunday night. In total there are eight perpetrators, of which seven have been arrested and one is still being pursued," said Director of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Bowo Gede Imantio in Pontianak, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 24.

The robbery occurred at two crime scenes (TKP) in Tayan District, Sanggau Regency.

At the first crime scene, a robbery took place at a restaurant in Ampar Hamlet, Cempedak Village, with the victim named Muhammad Ali. While the second crime scene took place in Tertang Hamlet, Subah Village, with the victim named Asep Maulana.

"This robbery case was successfully uncovered after the two victims reported the incident to the Tayan Hilir Police. The first crime scene occurred on June 7, 2023, while the second crime scene occurred on July 2, 2023," he said.

Of the seven perpetrators arrested, two of them are recidivist cases of violent theft (curas) and theft with threats of violence (curan and theft).

"Both recidivists were paralyzed by gunfire," he said.

The perpetrators used the car as a means to carry out the robbery. They pretended to be traffic officers and stopped the victim by turning on the police lights.

After the victim pulled over his vehicle, the perpetrators immediately carried out a robbery.

"The perpetrator handcuffed the driver, closed the victim's eyes, and then carried the victim into the car. Then the victim and the box car were taken to the oil palm plantation," said Bowo.

The perpetrators then took the victim's belongings and locked the victim in a box car before fleeing the crime scene.

"One of the perpetrators is a former driver of an expedition box car company, so this makes it easier to reveal the identities of the perpetrators. The perpetrators were charged with Article 365 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 12 years in prison and were also charged with the Emergency Law with a penalty of 10 years in prison," he said.

The perpetrators and evidence have now been secured at the West Kalimantan Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings. However, there is still one perpetrator who is on the wanted list (DPO).

Di tempat yang sama, salah satu korban Asep Maulana menceritakan saat kejadian, sekitar pukul 01.00 dini hari, dirinya sempat dilakukan oleh pelaku karena meminta uang dan dirinya tidak memilikinya.

"In my wallet there was only Rp. 250,000 and the perpetrator asked me to hand over my ATM pin number and after I checked all the money at my ATM in the amount of Rp. 1,050,000 at all. I was beaten and then I was told to get into the car and left to be locked from the outside," he said.

In the van, with his eyes closed and handcuffed, he tried to escape but to no avail.

At around 09.00 he was helped by local residents, after screaming for help and he was rescued by local residents.

"After being released by residents, I then called the office where I worked and reported this incident to the nearest police station," he said.
