Jember Police Hunt For Owners Of Illegal Assembled Firearms Who Become DPOs

Jember Resort Police, East Java are hunting for the owner of an illegal homemade firearm with the initials GP who has been on the wanted list (DPO).

"GP, which is a resident of Jember, has fled and we have designated it as a DPO, so that it is currently being pursued by the police," said Jember Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Hendry Ibnu Indarto in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 21.

The Kalong Resmob Team of the Jember Police Satreskrim previously arrested a resident of Banyuwangi Regency with the initials PW who was carrying a homemade firearm in Balung District, Jember Regency.

During the arrest, the police also confiscated a homemade 22-caliber revolver and 12 rounds of ammunition from PW's hands and continued to develop the case.

PW and his friends bought two homemade firearms without the documents and official documents through the SN intermediary for Rp. 5.2 million, but only Rp. 3.9 million was paid.

"Based on PW's information, investigators then pursued and succeeded in arresting SN in Banyuwangi who sold homemade firearms to PW," he said.

After a search was carried out, it turned out that SN was only an intermediary in the sale of illegal homemade firearms and the weapon was obtained from the GP which is now included in the DPO.

Police have named PW and SN as suspects in the case of illegal possession of homemade firearms

The two farmers who are in the illegal homemade firearms are charged with Article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951.
