SINGARAJA - Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration Silmy Karim emphasized the importance of the quality of foreign nationals (WNA) entering Bali through increased supervision, including synergizing with local governments to the village level on the Island of the Gods.

"This is our note for investor visas because what we need is quality crossers," said Silmy Karim on the sidelines of the renovation of the Singaraja Immigration Office, Buleleng Regency, Bali, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 17.

Silmy Karim hopes that quality foreigners will have an economic impact on the Island of the Gods, not on the other hand causing social problems.

The Director General of Immigration then asked the immigration ranks in Bali to increase communication and coordination with local governments to the village level because foreigners traveling in Bali or carrying out economic activities are directly confirmed in villages.

Silmy also asked the immigration ranks in Bali to improve their duties, including supervision, to ensure that foreigners who enter the Island of the Gods are of high quality.

He also asked his subordinates not to hesitate to enforce the rules related to foreign immigration violations.

On that occasion, he also appreciated the Buleleng Regency Government for providing support for the rebuilding of the Singaraja Class II Immigration Office building.

"We will pay for all these sincerity by providing the best service to the community, especially in Buleleng and its surroundings," he said.

The Singaraja Immigration Office includes three surveillance areas for foreigners in Bali, namely in Buleleng Regency, Karangasem Regency, and Jembrana Regency.

Meanwhile, Acting Regent of Buleleng I Ketut Lihadnyana hopes that the renovation of the immigration building will improve immigration services, including the supervision of foreigners.

He explained that in the Singaraja Immigration area there are estimated to be around 2,500 foreigners.

Based on records from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province, immigration on the Island of the Gods from January to July 11, 2023 deported 178 foreigners, the dominant one from Russia.

Since the international door was reopened in Bali from May 2022 to December 2022, deportations from Indonesian territory through Bali reached 194 people.

Naughty foreigners who are subject to sanctions include abusing residence permits, bypassing residence permits, and criminal acts that violate the norms and legal rules in force in Indonesia.
