YOGYAKARTA - The Dutch government has repatriated hundreds of valuable artifacts belonging to Indonesia. This historic object was the result of Dutch booty while occupying Indonesia during colonial times. So what cultural artifacts were returned by the Dutch?

The return of historical objects belonging to the ancestors of the Indonesian nation was welcomed by the government and society. The handover of hundreds of artifacts by the Dutch was symbolically received by Hilmar Farid, Director General (Dirjen) of Culture, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in the mill country.

We are very happy. This is a very historic moment for us, Indonesia and the Netherlands. And the relationship between the two," said Hilmar Farid.

The Culture Directorate has formed a team to list historical objects and design the process of repatriating these important artifacts to Indonesia. What cultural artifacts were returned by the Dutch?

The Dutch government decided to return the looted cultural heritage of Indonesia in the past. The policy of repatriating these artifacts was carried out on the advice of the Dutch committee which was formed in 2022.

The valuable objects returned by the Dutch to the country consisted of various kinds, ranging from valuable jewelry to carvings of 13th century temples. The following are historical objects that will have their homes and fill museums in Indonesia.
