Government Performs Mapping of Infrastructure Damage due to Flash Floods of Mount Semeru Lava

JAKARTA - The Central Government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) together with the Lumajang Regency Government and the East Java Provincial Government have mapped the damage to vital infrastructure due to the Mount Semeru lava flash flood so that immediate handling of the disaster is carried out.

"The Lumajang Regency Government cannot complete it as a whole, we need BNPB's intervention in handling some of the reconstruction in Lumajang after the landslide and Semeru cold lava disaster," said Lumajang Regent Thoriqul Haq in a written statement received by Antara in Lumajang, Sunday.

Regent Thoriqul Haq held a coordination meeting with BNPB and the East Java Provincial Government at Pendapa Arya Wiraja Lumajang on Saturday (8/7) evening to share tasks to accelerate the handling of vital infrastructure damaged by the Mount Semeru cold lava disaster.

"After the disaster, the Lumajang Regency Government moved quickly to assess the impact of the damage, including handling life safety and also conveying that the basic needs of the refugees at several points had been met," he said.

He explained that five bridges were damaged by the Semeru cold lava disaster, namely the bridge connecting Kloposawit Village and Tumpeng, then the Kaliregoyo bridge connecting Jugosari Village and Kebondeli Selatan Hamlet.

Furthermore, the bridge connecting Lumajang Regency and Malang, the Limpas bridge connecting Tumpeng Village and Nguter Village, and the Kalibiru bridge connecting Sidomulyo Village and Pronojiwo Village.
